Reel To reel tape machines
Reel to Reel recorders like vinyl in records are here to stay.
The period tape machines like Ferrograph were hand built to last and were built in the UK, just like the classic radio's of the same period use off the shelf components . With that classic valve sound and mechanical design whats not to like. Every instutution had them BBC, schools, armed forces and if you were lucky the private owner to .With the correct servicing some 50 years later they are as good as the day they left the factory
Retro with Classic designs are now very popular. There are a number of client's who collect from a certain decade, this can be for personal interest or as props in television or film, through to interior design. At times we are asked to supply good looking models but are not fully functional. If there is a particular period radio you require please contact me to your specific needs so we c
an do the hard work for you.
RADIO'S REPAIRED AND NEW STOCK MODELS
Due to the increase of repairs for clients that i now undertake it is going to take me a little longer than I had hoped to get the quanity of radio's and televisions I have to be ready for sale. My plan is to within a few months have a complete range of period, vintage radio's both valve and transistor avaliable to offer a wide choice.
As you can imagine the 1930's radio's have to be stripped, colour matched and french polished then the chassis cleaned, repaired re-aligned and tested before i would be confident to offer them for purchase. I'm always purchasing interesting models that I know will be of interest to you and with that in mind i plan to update with items that i,m currently working on. For example I'm restoring a McMichael 135 and 137 radio's including partial restoration to a 137 for a client plus two civilian receivers both completly stripped and made good, also the popular Goblin timespot will be on here again. That with the popular Hacker range I have and the Bush MB60's and TR wil keep me busy. There is nothing worse than looking in a shop window with items for sale seeing sold and no change of stock after weeks of looking I plan to update very soon. So thank you all for your interest and patience and keep watching my window for the new range coming very soon.
Classic Radio shop can now accept credit card payments even if you do not have a paypal account, when you are in the checkout , Just go through the system and when requested payment you will see that you can enter your card details, this is a secured payment system. We will not have access to any of your card details, thus allowing you to purchase something you would like to buy straight away rather than sending cheques or opening a paypal account if you do not have one.
Any difficulties please call and i can take you through the process
Mobile phones, please note as I'm often in the workshop my mobile phone is not switched on, please first call me on my main line as there is always someone there to take your call. Mobile conditions in Norfolk are not perfect at times. As I would not like to think I have ignored your call.
With a comprehensive workshop able to not only just repair, but also restore wooden radio cabinets to give either a brand-new look, or to be able to create that it has well been looked after over many years of service feel. Using the same techniques as you would repair a valued piece of antique furniture. Perhaps old-fashioned but I prefer to French polish, a technique I have been using for many years, whilst restoring a large number of historic piano's in the UK for large country houses. This finish gives a warm glow rather than a bright look compared with modern contemporary varnishes as is easier to repair in the future.
Unlike some E-Shop's, customers are encouraged to view our workshop's and to see the range of vintage valve and transistor radio's produced from the 1930's to the mid 1970's, while having an informal chat about their potential investment, or your own treasured family wireless that requires repair.
Retro these days has never been so popular and there are a number of collectors who are interested in a particular period, for example the forties weekend's held at the Poppy Line in Sheringham, just a few miles from us allow's people wishing to collect from that period, to not only visit but that important how does it sound and feel approach before purchase.
All prices of radios and batterys include courier to your door
Hacker radio's are repaired and sold here, I had one of these radio's brought into me as a part exchange and to be honest I, like a lot of people was not aware of them. The sound quality is brilliant, the build quality is first class as they were built to a standard not a price. These radio's are very collectable and enjoyable, with so many different models to choose from, there is a model to meet your requirements. First built in 1960 (Herald) until 1977 these all British made radio's are a joy and were exspensive to buy at the time. We have a number of different models always in stock to show you.

The popular jewel case radios, that uses two batteries. The 90 volt HT and the 1.5 Volt LT have not been in production for over 35 years. Classic Radio Shop can offer copies of the Ever Ready models for your convenience. These batteries are the same as the original, so have two advantages 1) look the same for the authentic look and 2) guaranteed to fit in at times rather tight spaces within the radio. These can be opened up and re-used when needed.
We also offer the Sky series radios combined HT and LT.
