A controversial looking radio ?, you will either love it or hate it. It's different that is certain, and I would think not to many of these would be around. So why did Pye design it, the chassis apart from having a Ferrite rod aerial and a standard on/off volume control is in fact a Pye P114BQ, these were first introduced in 1955. By then the transistor radio's were being produced so I wonder if this more square design is a reflection on the market at the time, and trying to bring in a modern theme while still using a tried and trusted concept in valve design.

I feel this radio has a statement relating to the commonwealth but unable to be able to comment further as information does not seem to be out there.

The radio itself has had the de-coupling capacitors replaced as well as 3 of the miniature valves, I feel this was due to lack of knowledge and resulted in 90 Volts going to the heater's. It works very well and condition is good, the two on/off and volume knobs with band selector generally come with chrome inserts, i have changed these to Red , it matches the red material sides. The radio works very well indeed and the waveband ranges are 200 - 550 metres (medium wave) and 1,100 - 2,000 metres (long wave). The advantage over the first chassis model is its modern look, and unlike the jewel case model where you needed to open the lid for it to operate, this sits as a modern radio would for use.

It runs on 90 Volt ear view with the cover removed on the Pye Caribbean P152BQ, showing the chassis and how the B126 90 Volt HT battery and AD35 1.5 Volt LT battery are fitted.
