The period tape machines like Ferrograph were hand built to last and were built in the UK, just like the classic radio's of the same period use off the shelf components . With that classic valve sound and mechanical design whats not to like. Every instutution had them BBC, schools, armed forces and if you were lucky the private owner to .With the correct servicing some 50 years later they are as good as the day they left the factory
Retro with Classic designs are now very popular. There are a number of client's who collect from a certain decade, this can be for personal interest or as props in television or film, through to interior design. This is going to be one of a range from Cromer Classic Radio shop allowing clients who restore their own period 1930's - 1940's period radio's. Rather than just having modern components fitted, this will allow you to fit your own into a period style box. The cable goes through the white hole at the top of the box visible.

Finding suitable componets that can be opened, scanned and touched up to be suitable at times is not always easy, but i'm sure a range of suitable components will be found and made availible for your use.
Larger dual capacitor box for re-producing that period look, this is a copy removed from a period GEC radio of 1934 allowing modern capacitors to be fitted into a period style box. Wires were taken from the bottom.
The original was made of metal with lugs via screws to be fitted to the chassis. Comes either via post cut out onto card or sent via your email on Adobe reader so you can print your own copies as required.
